Why Am I Still Doing This???

What's up guys! So it's been a little more than a year and I've been building my community. Looking at the stats across both my channels well...progress was made and I'm thankful for it, but I haven't made nearly as much progress as I would've liked to. I've taken to logging my stats and analytics every month and I can definitely see some growth when looking at the numbers. But as far as engagement... In I'm at the point in the content creation journey where I have no idea what to do. I've tried connecting with others through Twitter and Discord and their platforms (YouTube and Twitch), I've supported everyone as best I can but I get very little support myself. I have acquired a few regulars on Twitch, awesome people whose streams I thoroughly enjoy, and others who are just watchers that I've made moderator on my channel. I average about 3 viewers per stream and I have to remind myself that I've only been at it for about 4 months....

Dear Internet Troll (Don't Tell Me I won't Be Great)

Dear Internet Troll, Tonight my balls dropped so I commented on YouTube's post about how you're going to have to sell your soul, or at least put up a video of a dead body in order to get enough views and subs to meet the monetization requirement. Internet Troll, you came in and bitched and moaned about how I'm in it for the money, and how my shit videos won't make money. Internet Troll I told you I wasn't in it for the money, but you insisted that was my reasoning so I reminded you that you don't know me and I'll have nothing else to say to you. Internet Troll listen... It's the principle of the matter, smaller content creators are constantly shitted on, why should I be punished because a millionaire YouTuber messed up? Why should YouTube take away what motivates me, why should I have to leap instead of casually making my way across some stepping stones? In the past year I've lost access to information cards and some other things, this was ...

When Worse comes to Worst

It's been a minute since the last time I wrote, that's because a lot has happened. Once again my channel is down in the dumps because of consistency, but this time things are beyond my control. In the past few weeks, I had no internet access for a whole month (August) because the only technician of the only internet provider on the entire island was on vacation. A few weeks after it came up (I was making only Niche videos), along comes Hurricane Irma. I had to pack my laptop away and secure it. My island got only tropical storm type winds, but my entire room was packed up. Fast forward to this week. I made an Ark video that go 3 views, my Niche videos weren't faring much better (they were rushed just so that I could have something up in case of storm). I recorded an Ark video and deleted the entire thing because nothing was going as planned in the video. To say that I was frustrated would be the biggest understatement ever in the history of understatements! After a se...

A Week of Ups and Downs

I have been very open about my emotional problems, the longer I've been home, the more I've seen where they are coming from, and I'm also noticing a very unfortunate cycle, one that I am fighting tooth and nail to break. Like I mentioned before I graduated in December and since then I have still been unable to find a job. The ones that I've been offered barely pay minimum wage for work that deserves twice that, or they were for places that I've already work and promised myself I would never return to. I asked for one summer without my younger cousins because I'm not in a good place emotionally, and I feel like as usual I did not get what I wanted. But I've been coping as best I could for a little more than a month, and by that I mean BARELY coping. Where I am mentally and emotionally in life has been reflecting in my videos. The stress of life was consuming me and I sounded as dead in my videos as I felt inside. When it comes down to it, being this much ...

Be My Guest!

The title? It's celebrating the live action Beauty & The Beast movie that surprisingly wasn't complete trash (yeah Live-Action Jungle Book, I mean you!). As of 5 seconds ago I made every video I have uploaded to YouTube public. Considering everything that I'm going through, having someone shit all over something I enjoy and worked hard on hurt, especially since I feel like the comment was made just for the sake of assholery. I'm a firm believer of constructive criticism, "but" and "you should" can be very useful tools, especially to somebody early on. Before I uploaded any videos I knew that by putting myself out there, I was putting myself at risk of getting my feelings hurt. I'm also very socially awkward and have nearly crippling social anxiety (honest reasons I don't use a webcam or do vlogs or hair and makeup videos). One of the reasons I chose to do YouTube is because I wanted to slowly overcome these issues, I figured if I coul...

Own it Babe, Wurk Hunty!

The title? I've been watching a lot of  RuPaul's Drag Race lately. But if you've seen my post yesterday, clearly I was not in a good place (I'm still not, nothing's changed), but the purpose for this blog is to document my journey in the wonderful world of YouTube, so that's what I'm going to do. If you check out my channel right about now, you will find....NOTHING? Why? It's been a shitty morning, like the shittiest of mornings! I woke up at 7:30 am, that was the first issue, I am not a morning person. I shut off the alarm on my phone and notifications showed up, one of them was this thing: After the day I had yesterday, I was like damn really? I immediately deleted the comment because I figured that I didn't need that shit. But you know what? I immediately regretted it. Why? Because this person is telling the truth, I am boring, I know I'm boring. Not gonna lie, I had to share this pic with Alonzo Lerone because while my life is...

When It All Comes Tumbling Down

Gonna open this by saying that support is very important, especially early on. Everyone takes for  granted the power of a like or even a short conversation during a stream. Bigger than that though is the support of the people you love. Backtracking a bit, I thought I would be one of those people to start at the bottom and then spiral up very quickly, I had all of these dreams and ambitions when I left college, and one by one they've all crashed and burned. I was not supposed to wind up living in my mother's third bedroom that doubles as storage, I was not supposed to be so broke that I can't even afford to buy my parents even the smallest gifts for their birthdays, not me, one way or the other I was supposed to be successful. Fast-forward to today, it's eight years after my life was supposed to begin and six months after my second chance was supposed to begin. Plan A: move to Canada (failed), Plan B: find a job to be able to get my own place, finally begin my life a...
